You all know that snacks eating at night could lead to weight gain. This is especially true when it comes to snacks that contain refined starches and carbs, including rice, bread, pretzels and potato chips, which are low in fiber, but high in sugar.
These foods may be a quick fix; but if you do not use the converted energy, those calories will be stored as fat. This is not good for your waistline.
Still, experts say it is best not to go to bed hungry, either, and here’s the reason why. So when your stomach starts rumbling, after you turn off the lights, you are probably better off reaching for a low-carbohydrate and high-protein snack.
What Should You Eat?
If you are hungry, here is a good choice; mozzarella string cheese sticks. This snack contains fewer than 100 calories per stick, and these tiny-but-mighty snacks provide 6 grams of protein with just 1 gram of carbohydrates. Also, it contains extra nutrients such as calcium and vitamin D. You will not have to worry about over-eating, due to their pre-packaged portions.
For lactose-intolerant individuals, or those people who cannot consume dairy, a small handful of nuts like walnuts and almonds will do the trick, too. Although both types of nuts are high in calories and fat, they are also loaded with plenty of vitamin E, protein, magnesium, selenium and other healthy nutrients. Remember that when it comes to nuts, a little can go a long way.
These healthy snacks will curb your cravings and sill help in losing weight.
