Natural Remedies for Damaged HairAs much as we love sunbathing in the beach, too much exposure from the salt of the seawater and the sun’s intense heat can cause extensive damage to the hair, making it dry and sometimes, inducing split ends. You can solve it by applying conditioner but if you want to go for a more natural approach, the following will do just the trick.

Avocado and Egg Mask

Remove the pit from a ripe avocado and grind or mash the avocado with an egg. Apply the mixture into your hair. The vitamins, minerals and fat from the avocado and the egg will help your hair regain its lost luster. Leave it be for 20 minutes and then rinse multiple times. Do this process once every week if you have damaged hair.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is known for its ability to restore the shine and moisture back into your hair.  Warm up half a cup of olive oil (DO NOT BOIL!). Let it cool for a few minutes and then apply to your hair. Cover your hair for 45 minutes. Shampoo after and then rinse.

Butter

For dry and brittle hair, massage a negligible amount of butter into your hair to restore its luster. Leave it on (you can also cover it with a shower cap) for 30 minutes. Shampoo after and then rinse to get rid of the butter.

Tea

Yep, tea is not only used to keep you awake. After shampooing, use ¼ cup of warm, unsweetened tea as your last rinse. Just make sure that the tea you use works with your hair color as tea is known to enhance hair color. Black tea may be used by brunettes while chamomile tea would do the trick for blondes.

Apple Cider Vinegar-Olive Oil-Egg Mixture

Combine 3 egg whites, 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a bowl. Rub the mixture into your hair and cover it for 30 minutes. This fixes damaged hair and maintains the luster in already healthy hair.

Egg

This might be obvious as egg has already been used in two previous entries in this article but on its own, egg can actually also help. Whisk an egg on a bowl and then massage it on the scalp and hair for a few minutes. Cover your head with a shower cap for 20 minutes and then rinse and shampoo as usual.
