Cinnamon

Cinnamon gets rid of the odor by removing odor-causing bacteria. The International Association for Dental Research stated that people who chewed cinnamon gum had a 50% decrease in oral bacteria, compared to the people who chewed mint.

Baking Soda

Baking soda help gets rid of bad bacteria and in whitening teeth.

Honey

Honey contains antibacterial properties. If possible, you can choose to try Manuka honey which contains 127 times the amount of methylglyoxa, the antimicrobial agent that kills off bacteria.

Lemon Juice

Lemon contains a strong and refreshing citrus scent that can help with cases of bad breath.

Cinnamon Mouthwash Recipe

Ingredients:

2 lemons
1 ½ teaspoons of honey
1 cup of warm water
1-1/2 teaspoon 1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon
Jar or bottle

Directions:

1. Put 2 freshly squeezed lemons, ½ tablespoon of cinnamon and 1 ½ teaspoons of honey, into a bottle or jar with tight fitting lid.
2. Pour 1 cup of very warm water into the jar and stir well.
3. To freshen up your breath, shake quickly and gargle 1-2 tablespoons for at least 1 minute.

Note: If you’d like you can also add in 1/2-1 teaspoon of baking soda and omit the honey, or use both.
