The liver is an important organ for detoxifying your body. If your liver is not healthy and functioning properly, the toxins that should have been eliminated could end up staying in your body and may cause damage.

Below are healthy drinks you can add into your diet that promotes liver health.

 

What to Drink:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Make it a daily habit to drink a glass of warm water, then add a teaspoon of organic apple cider vinegar.

2. Blood Orange Juice

An experiment published in 2012 in the “World Journal of Gastroenterology”, states that blood orange juice helps protect the liver against fat accumulation. It also protects against fatty liver, lowers total cholesterol and triglycerides, reduced weight gain and increased insulin sensitivity. Insulin is a hormone that helps regulate blood sugar.

3. Green Tea

Drink at least 1-2 cups of green tea daily. Green tea contains catechins, an antioxidant that assists with detoxification and supports the liver.

4. Lemon Juice

Always start your day with 1 cup of warm water with fresh lemon juice. Lemon juice contains citric acid, which encourages the liver to produce bile, which is one of the ways the body excretes toxins.

5. Noni Fruit Juice

Noni, is a tropical fruit-bearing plant. The journal “Plant Foods and Human Nutrition” published an animal study in 2008, which concludes that noni juice may help protect the liver from damage caused by exposure to toxins.

6. Vegetable Juice

Vegetable juice is one of the easiest way to get 5 servings of vegetables into your daily diet. It contains the essential minerals, vitamins and other nutrients found in vegetables in their original form, except for fibre.

Tomato juice is a good source of lycopene, an antioxidant that helps reduce the risk of prostate cancer, heart attack and other types of cancer. Celery, carrot, cucumber, beetroot, tomato, capsicum, capsicum and ginger can all be juiced. If you are buying pre-packed vegetable juices, make sure to select the low-sodium varieties.

7. Water

Drink at least 2 litres or 8 glasses water daily. Spread throughout the rest of the day. Drinking water helps flush toxins out through the bladder and bowels, thus preventing them from being re-circulated in the bloodstream.
