Below is a list of some quick and easy, homemade remedies to help control the itch:

1. Basil Leaves

Basil leaves are rich in anti-itch compounds such as thymol and camphor. This is best for bug bites, plus it’s so easy and to make.

How to:
1. Crush the leaves and rub onto the itchy skin area.

2. Oatmeal

Oatmeal contains a compound known as avenanthramides, that helps in reducing inflammation. It is also most commonly used for eczema and poison ivy. You can add oatmeal to your bath or make a poultice.

How to:
1. For the oatmeal poultice, add a bit of water to a bowl of organic and plain uncooked oatmeal. You can use ground or steel-cut oatmeal, then let it sit for a few minutes until it reaches a paste-like consistency.
2. Apply the paste to the itchy area, as needed.

3. Epsom Salts

Epsom salt contains antibacterial qualities and promotes healing.

How to:
1. Combine a big handful of epsom salts into a warm bath water. Then soak in it for as long as you like.

4. Fruit Peels

You can rub bug bites with a banana peel or using watermelon rind. This is a great way to re-purpose kitchen scraps that might otherwise be thrown out.
