You can customize your diet plans to fight diabetes and high blood sugar. When you consider that “glucose-intolerant” is another term for “diabetic”, you can easily see what you should not eat.

These include glucose-rich foods like rice, bread, pasta and potatoes. But as per Mary Vernon, M.D. and what was indicated in Men’s Health article, a more positive approach is to put an importance on what people can enjoy.

Important Rules to Remember

Always remember that you should eat until you are satisfied and not to get stuffed. Include proteins that include cheese, nuts and meat for your meals and snacks. Avoid skipping meals, most especially breakfast.

Foods to Include in Your Diet

Beverage:
Drink at least 64 ounces of water daily. You can consume two servings of of unsweetened tea or coffee.

Condiments:
Can include horseradish, Mustard, Tabasco sauce or soy sauce.

Cheese:
Consume at least up to 4 ounces of cheese daily. It can include American, Parmesan and cheddar cheese. One serving of cheese is about the size of two dominoes.

Fruit:
Have at least 1 cup of melon or berries per day.

Vegetables:
Consume four servings daily of non-root vegetables. These include asparagus, broccoli, spinach and other leafy green vegetables. One serving is at least 1 cup.

Eggs and Meat:
This also includes fish and poultry.

Nuts:
Nuts should be at least 1 ounce a day.

Salad Dressings:
Vinegar, oil and full-fat dressings which include ranch, that may contain no more than 2 grams of carbohydrates per serving.

Oils:
Canola and olive oil are best. You can use only small amounts of other oils.

Note:
If you are currently taking medication for high blood sugar or high blood pressure, consult your doctor first. This is because, this diet may cause both to drop.
