The pores serve as gateways for natural oils to get to the skin’s topmost surface and provide moisture. However, they may rob you of your self-confidence the minute they end up enlarged and dilated.

Generally speaking, pores tend to get bigger when they are clogged or irritated. Many of them can be very visible especially on the nose where there are so many oil glands situated just underneath your skin. Men and women with oily skin tend to have a lot of larger pores. Especially if you are standing very close to someone, it can be mortifying to know that the person can easily spot your humungous pores!

Fret not because there are some very simple tips on shrinking those large pores of yours. See which ones of the following will work very well on you and try to make them as part of your regular beauty regime for soft and flawless skin:

  • Massage ice cubes on your face – Ice cubes can shrink large pores in seconds! The best time to do this is after thoroughly cleansing your face to ensure that no dirt or grime will be trapped inside.
  • Rinse with cold water – When washing, start by splashing warm water on your face. This will open up the pores and make the removal of lodged impurities easier with the help of your favorite facial cleanser. Afterwards, rinse with cold water to effectively seal those pores.
  • Apply egg white mask – Massaging egg white on your face and allowing it to dry there is a wonderful pore minimizer! This age-old beauty secret also helps tighten, cleanse and nourish your skin.
  • Exfoliate with sugar and olive oil – Exfoliating helps remove dirt and excess oils inside the pores. Once they’re out, your pores will be noticeably smaller. There is no need to get your hands on those pricey exfoliating solutions on the market. Simply combine 2 parts sugar and 1 part olive oil. Gently massage on your face and rinse off thoroughly. Try to limit exfoliating to 2 to 3 times a week only.
  • Use baking soda to clean the pores – There’s a cheaper alternative to the above exfoliating solution. You just have to add a few drops of lukewarm water to baking soda and gently massage on your face with your fingertips using small circular motions. Wash off with cold water afterwards to close the pores.
  • Smear yogurt on your face – Yogurt works as a mild exfoliating agent because of its lactic acid content. So if the homemade exfoliating solutions suggested above seem too harsh to your skin, simply get a tub of yogurt and apply away!
  • Absorb excess oils with oatmeal – The presence of excessive amounts of oils in the pores can leave them enlarged. An excellent way to get rid of them is by pulverizing some raw oatmeal with your blender or food processor, adding a few drops of water to it and leaving the paste on your face for a few minutes. Thoroughly remove with water afterwards.
  • Rub apple cider vinegar on your face – An all-natural way to zap dirt and bacteria that may clog up the pores and make them enlarged is through the simple application of apple cider vinegar on your face. Use a cotton ball to do this. Give apple cider vinegar a few minutes to work its magic. Wash off thoroughly with water afterwards.
